I want to see a museum built about trash. Let me give you a floor by floor description of the museum and its various components to give you a more comprehensive view of the scope of the museum. First/Main floor -Upon entering the museum you will be confronted with 60 ft. h pile of garbage that occupies a main portal/ rotunda. Totally encompassing and surroundung the pile will be a floor to ceiling multi-part - mullti - media display showcasing many of the worlds lannfills. The air is filled with the pungent aroma of decay and the sounds of thousands of seagulls. A stainless steel spiral staircase curves around the pile and serves as an interesting conduit for access to the upper floors. Once on the staircase you can peer down and through several "windows " in the pile and see the "artist -in - residence" studio that actually exists inside and under the pile. The first/main floor will also contain the gift store, theatre and conferencre rooms. The second floor focuses mainly on the historical aspects of trash - ie: the history or refuse collection and will have many interesting and interactive components. ie: people who collect found gloves The third floor will be devoted to art - with a permanent collection and ongoing group and solo "feature exhibitions" ie: any of artist's on the list so far. On the top floor will be offices, library, research and curatorial depts. and the "Junk Fud" restaurant. The basement level contains a "children's area" and the "artist-in-residence" studio. The museum will be modular and moveble - so it wil be everchanging and evermoving. I want Winnipeg to become Canada's " City of Museums" and I think it's about time for a "Trash Museum" Are you ready to lend your Support?

The UK Museum of Ordure would appreciate some further information on this matter. If possible, please reply to this post with details on how we can find out more about your proposed Trash Museum.

For example, why Winnipeg? Which artist(s) would you commission? etc...

Dear Mr.Ward
Thank you for your interest in my project. I will answer a few of querries. Winnipeg was chosen for the future site of the Winnipeg Trash Museum because I live here in Winnipeg.
I want to make Winnipeg a "go to" place. I believe the the WTM will attract people from all over the globe and will do for Winnipeg what the Guggenheim did for Bilbao.
I am still in the early planning stages, and am in the process of creating a display/exhibition to expound my dreams, goals and plans. I will be ready to "go public" in 2006. If you are interested I do have some preliminary proto-conceptual material available. I do have a lenghty list of artists whose work fits very nicely into the whole thing but right now I gotta go I'll have to go into that at later.
